DESCRIPTION:Suicide is not only a tragedy for the family and friends of the victim\; it also has a terrible impact on our schools and broader community. The nearly 100 students who participate in the Yellow Ribbon program at Elk River High School\, in conjunction with ISD 728 Safe Schools\, have committed themselves to doing all they can to educate the public about suicide in the hopes of preventing future tragedies.\n\n\n\nThe event\, entitled "Break the Silence\," will remind the community that suicide is 100% preventable.\n\n\n\nYellow Ribbon students will be hosting a free public event on Tuesday\, October 15\, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Elk River High School Zabee Theater.  \n\n\n\nYellow Ribbon is a school-based suicide prevention program with chapters in schools across the country.\n\n \n\nThe event will feature a presentation by Dr. Dan Reidenberg\, the Executive Director of SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education)\, Managing Director of the National Council for Suicide Prevention and the U.S. Representative to the International Association of Suicide Prevention. Reidenberg engages audiences across the country about suicide prevention by incorporating both scientific and humanistic data in an audience-friendly multi-media format.\n\n \n\nContinuing education credits are also available.
