Strategies for Smart Giving: When to Say "Yes" and How to Say "No"
A workshop for businesses in the Elk River Area
Tuesday, October 28, 2008
8:00 - 10:00 a.m. or 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Does your business have a specific giving plan for your charitable donations? Ever wonder how other businesses handle their donation requests? How you can be more strategic about what you give and to whom?
- Clarify why and how you give
- Establish goals and criteria for the use of your donations
- Identify best policies and practices
- Determine your decision-making process
Each participant will receive a free copy of Minnesota Business Giving and Community Involvement Workbook (a $24.95 value) as a guide for the discussion. Using forms from the Workbook, you will leave with the outline of a giving plan for your business. You will also have the opportunity to talk about setting up a budget and evaluating your efforts as well as ways to involve your employees in your giving plan.
Cost is $7.50 per person; refreshments will be provided. You may bring your own lunch if you attend the noon session. RSVP at 763-441-3110 by October 21 to reserve your space.
