Pipe Welder Wanted

The Pipe Welder position will be responsible for using Stick and MIG welding techniques to weld various components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. This individual should be familiar with and capable of using various welding equipment to weld and fit pipe. In addition, the pipe welder will perform tasks such as installing propane pipes and piping, fabricating skids and piping for the natural gas industry, and fabricating piping weldments in the shop using GMAW. When not welding, the position remains productive in various tasks both in the shop and in the field.
·        Cut, fit and weld parts and equipment used in the propane and natural gas industry
·        Perform code (ASME or API) compliant welds using GMAW and SMAW processes
·        Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements
·        Properly use fabrication shop hand tools (grinders, drills, air tools, etc.)
·        Understand and demonstrate a safe working knowledge of all applicable welding & cutting equipment
·        Exercise judgment and planning in selecting and using materials, tools, and equipment
·        Observe and recognize problems during the welding process and adjust as necessary
·        Follow all safety rules and quality standards
·        Follow, create, and help maintain welding procedures consistent with code
·        Work without supervision to complete all welding tasks on time
·        Maintain relationships with engineers, inspectors, and other employees to work through projects and address potential issues as they arise
·        Maintain safe, clean work environment and take proper care of all equipment and facility
·        Perform all necessary maintenance and repairs on all equipment used in welding
·        Minimize the wastage of materials and consumables
·        Perform other various duties as assigned

  • Physical dexterity to climb, crawl, and other movements required in the field
  • Capable of operating forklift (training provided)
  • Ability to travel as projects require with ¼ travel outside of Minnesota
Work Environment:
  • Must be able to stand and walk for majority of work day
  • Must be able to handle working in all types of climates including outdoor exposure in changing seasons and both hot/cold temperatures
  • Must be able to wear all required safety PPE in various working conditions
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Trade school diploma or completed apprenticeship preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years industrial pipe welding experience preferred
  • Ability to pass 6G SMAW certification API 1104 and 6G weld certification ASME section IX
  • Must have valid driver’s license without restrictions; commercial driver’s license class A or B preferred
