Please note:  Approximately 80% of the work assignments will be performed in the field, with approximately 25-40% of those assignments requiring an overnight stay.

Summary:
Provide survey and technical support for GRE’s Transmission Division to meet the design requirements and ensure the objectives of the department are met.

A typical starting range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00 + hourly. Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Provide surveying requirements for all transmission, substation and communication system needs to include, but not limited to:
o Support substation topographic and boundary surveys.
o Perform probing and staking of transmission line structures. 
o Perform substation and switching site staking.
o Set up projects in the field based on accepted survey practices and experiences.
o Set control for aerial survey work.
· Support the design of projects by using AutoCAD, the accepted GRE and NESC (National Electric Safety Code) standards and specifications for construction projects. 
· Advise management of any safety concerns.

Qualifications:  Knowledge typically acquired through a:
· Two-year technical degree (such as drafting, survey technology, or civil technology) or 4-year land surveying degree AND 0 - 5 years of survey or related experience.
OR
· 5+ years of survey experience.
AND
· Required to maintain a valid driver’s license. 
· Ability to obtain/maintain a valid DOT medical card. 
· Drafting and AutoCAD software experience strongly preferred.
· Registered as a Land Surveyor In-Training (LSIT) in MN, WI or ND is preferred.
· Basic knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, and basic mathematics.
· Knowledge and skill in using computers and software related to job function.
· Ability to work in a team environment and follow work direction.
· Ability to draft utilizing AutoCAD software. AutoCAD experience strongly preferred.
· Ability to learn and operate survey equipment.
· Ability to interpret/create property and easement legal descriptions. Experience is strongly preferred.
· Strong detail orientation.
· Written and verbal communication skills.
· Analytical problem-solving skills using geometry and trigonometry.
· Skill in managing own time to meet deadlines and quality requirements.
