Job Summary

These positions will provide mental health services to both county and federal jail inmates at the Sherburne County Jail. Job duties also include assessing inmates for risk of harm to self to determine the appropriate level of supervision; Developing crisis intervention/planning, referral to needed services, and treatment planning. These positions will provide therapeutic services which will include both individual and group counseling sessions.   These positions will work closely with jail staff including medical staff and mental health release planning.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

These examples of typical duties do not include all possible tasks for this classification and do not limit the assignment of related tasks.  Regular attendance according to the department's approved work schedule is required for all Sherburne County positions.
 

  • Responsible for performing diagnostic assessments to determine inmates' level of mental health functioning and evaluating the presence of mental health or substance abuse disorders.
  • Developing treatment or crisis plans, case noting and maintaining appropriate documentation, and communicating with other criminal justice, human services, or mental health professionals on inmates' cases.
  • Schedules and conducts individual and/or group counseling sessions, provides direction in setting short/long-term goals and objectives, and prepare inmates for re-entry back to general population.
  • Responsible for providing medical and mental health release planning, social work assessments and evaluation, treatment activities, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to individuals and groups.
  • Participates in interagency staff conferences for the purpose of overall program planning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher social work, or related field.
  • Valid and current Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) license or meet the requirements of a qualified Mental Health Professional in MN Statutes 245.462, Subd.18. Or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to make complete diagnostic assessments and develop and implement treatment/crisis plans
  • Ability to provide after-hours service as needed
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience working in a correctional setting or with justice-involved individuals.

Hiring Salary Range
 $35.36 - $40.10/hour
 
Hours of Work
The schedule for these positions may require evenings, weekends, and/or an alternating schedule.
