At Ruff Start Rescue, you'll not only oversee the medical and behavioral care of the cats and kittens but also use your people skills to manage skilled foster homes and collaborate with other managers.

Availability: Ability and willingness to allow a flexible schedule are key.  This is a salaried position with a time commitment of at least 40 hours a week.  Most of these hours can be done remotely, but you will be required to be in the office (Princeton) for training and then at least 2-3 days a week after being fully trained.  Daily emailing and/or phone calls is a must. We do have set office hours, but there may be times you go over these hours if needed depending on your job duties. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate vetting for animals in the cat program. Maintaining up-to-date information regarding the status of all of the cats in our program.

  • Communicate with foster families regularly-This includes urgent animals needing to be moved.

  • Creating and maintaining a response timeline for foster homes and general foster questions from the public. Ideally, the response time for general emails would be 24-48 hrs.

  • Help foster homes understand what is urgent and to text and call in those situations.

    • Work with vetting and/or intake manager to create or update informational documents for fosters to lessen the emergency calls.

  • Assist with Foster Recruitment.

  • Professional development.

    •  An opportunity to build your skills through Classes, webinars, books, and expos.

    • Create and implement new processes to help the rescue grow internally/externally and implement cost-saving processes. 

  • Manage FTA (foster-to-adopt) program. Ensure the program is being utilized as expected in the appropriate time frame.

  • Work proactively to identify any training or behavioral issues with foster animals.

 

This position oversees: 

Anywhere from 100-200 cats at any time in the rescue 

1-2 pet profile coordinators

 

Specific Job Skills and requirements

  • A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of animals.

  • Non-profit experience is a plus. Animal welfare or related fields are a plus.

  • Collaboration skills are a must to value differences, build rapport and discuss Ruff Start policies, procedures, and changes effectively.

  • Access to the internet on a daily basis.  Must have a laptop. 

  • Smartphones are a must with access to FB, Google Drive, and Gmail on a daily basis. 

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment under sometimes tight deadlines. 

  • Ability to show compassion and empathize with the foster and adoptive families. 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

      • Ruff Start Rescue recognizes seven paid holidays each year. Should a holiday fall on a weekend, the holiday will be observed on the workday closest to the holiday.

Salary: $35,568+ DOQ
