2021 Young Professional of the Year Winner: Katie Shatusky
This award will recognize an employee or business owner that is under the age of 40 as of May 31 who is an emerging leader that demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in his/her business or profession. This person serves as a role model to other young professionals both personally and professionally and works to improve our community by volunteering at organizations within the area.
Congratulations to Katie Shatusky for being named this years Young Professional of the year. Katie is a well-known leader in the Elk River Area who co-founded a non-profit organization called Thumbs Up that offers a multitude of services for those who are struggling with their mental health as well as providing support to families and friends who have lost their loved ones to suicide. In March Katie took the leap to leave her great job with benefits to pursue her passion in helping others and became the first paid full-time employee of Thumbs Up. Her tireless work and effort are fueled by compassion and care for others. Through her leadership, the organization has expanded beyond the Elk River School District. Katie has and will continue to make a positive impact on our community which is why it is an honor to name her Young Professional of the Year.
What inspires her professionally?
People who will stop at nothing to make a positive difference to other people's lives. Also, when someone tells me I can't do something or doubts me, that is a sure way to inspire a fire inside me to accomplish my goals.
