28 th Annual Wildlife Festival at Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge and the Friends of Sherburne invite you to their 28th Annual Wildlife Festival on Saturday, September 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The public of all ages are invited to this FREE, family-friendly event at the Oak Savanna Learning Center. This event honors National Wildlife Refuge Week (Oct. 8 th -14 th), Urban National Wildlife Refuge Day (Oct. 7 th) and National Public Lands Day (Sept. 23 rd). At the festival, you can enjoy several booths set along packed granite trails, grab a bite to eat from two local food trucks and peruse the Friends’ silent auction or Eagle’s Nest Nature Store. Make sure to check out the engaging, hands-on activities at each booth; meet Puddles the Blue Goose, learn about refuge wildlife and management, try your hand at a BB gun, experience native seed cleaning, learn about Native American culture, observe live animals, investigate aquatic invertebrates, test your home water nitrate levels and more! Several refuge service roads will be open to vehicle traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to provide visitors a rare opportunity to see areas of the refuge that are not typically open to vehicles. Maps showing the open refuge roads will be available on the refuge website and at the Welcome Booth on the day of the event.
