Description
Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge invites you and your family to join us for FREE guided bird tours. Join us for a morning hike and learn about what species can be found around the refuge in the fall. Be on the lookout for raptors, waterfowl, warblers, and other species as you explore. All birding experience levels are welcome, no experience is necessary.
The tour will be approximately 1-3 miles long. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes and, if you choose, bring binoculars, camera, field guides, water, a snack, sunscreen, and bug spray. Be advised that poison ivy is common on the refuge. Visitors are encouraged to bring their binoculars or to borrow a pair from the refuge for the duration of the tour.
Your guide will be refuge volunteer, Dan Orr. You will meet at the Blue Hill Trailhead on Sherburne County Road 9, approximately 6 miles west of Highway 169.
Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. To pre-register, contact the Refuge Headquarters office at 763-389-3323 or sherburne@fws.gov.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is committed to providing access to this program for all participants. Direct all requests for sign language interpreting services, closed captioning, or other accommodation needs to sherburne@fws.gov or 763-389-3323, TTY 800-877-8339.
