Description
Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge invites you and your family to join us for FREE guided wildflower tours. In September, many wildflowers unfold their flowers creating an array of bright colors and textures and a beautiful scene as they decorate the oak savanna landscape. We encourage you to join us to learn about the diverse and unique species that grow on the refuge!
The tours will be structured as a car caravan and will stop at several different locations throughout the refuge. Carpooling is encouraged for groups and some light walking is required. Visitors are encouraged to bring binoculars, camera, field guides, water, a snack, and wear clothing and shoes appropriate for the weather and terrain. The Eagle’s Nest Nature Store, operated by the Friends of Sherburne, will be open from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm on both of these mornings.
Your guides will be refuge volunteers, Robin DeLong and Mitch Elness. Meet at the Oak Savanna Learning Center (16797 289th Ave NW. Zimmerman, MN 55398) located approximately 5 miles west of Highway 169 off of Sherburne County Road 9.
Pre-registration is requested but not required by calling the Refuge Headquarters at 763-389-3323, TTY 1-800-877-8339, or emailing sherburne@fws.gov.
