PURPOSE
Increase knowledge of the Elk River area.
Expand the leadership skills through increased understanding of organizational dynamics.
To increase awareness and understanding of community needs and goals.
To improve communications among area leaders.
To prepare and challenge participants to increase their level of community involvement.

September 9: It’s All About You Learn about your personal leadership style
October 14: History & Heritage Introduction to Elk River’s unique heritage and tour of historic sites
November 18: Non-Profit Organizations & Volunteerism Meet leaders that impact local non-profit organizations
December 9: Law and Justice Overview of criminal justice system; tour courtrooms and jail
January 13: Education The role, direction and the demands upon education in the community
February: Role of State Government in Business Tour of State Capitol; visits with local legislators
March 9: Local Government Role of local government and economic development
April 13: Getting Down to Business Discover the variety of existing local businesses and tour behind the scenes
May 11: Health & Recreation
June 12: Leadership Graduation Celebrate completing the course
ELIGIBILITY
The Leadership Elk River program is open to individuals who have a sincere commitment, motivation and interest to serve in the community at least one year of residence, employment or volunteer activity in the Elk River area, or who have demonstrated interest in the community the ability to make the time and personal commitment necessary to derive full benefit from the program the potential for responsible and effective leadership
PARTICIPANTS
A maximum of 25 participants will be selected from the applications submitted.
Participants may miss no more than two of the training sessions if they wish to receive a Certificate of Completion. Make-up sessions may be scheduled during the following year to obtain a certificate. A fee may apply.
TUITION
$350 for Chamber members, $450 for non-members. The tuition is paid either by the participant’s sponsoring business or organization, by the participant, or jointly.
