Description
Come one, come all! The Sherburne County History Center is celebrating the county’s 169th birthday with a kids’ carnival party on February 22 from 10am to noon. Festivities include birthday cake, carnival games, crafts, prizes, a caricature artist, and a mini golf course. Please RSVP on our website at www.sherburnehistorycenter.org.
Sherburne County became a county on February 25, 1856. In 2012, the Sherburne County Commissioners issued a proclamation declaring February 25, Sherburne History Day. A little known fact is that the county seat was originally in Big Lake, but was moved to Elk River in 1865.
We will be celebrating this special day the Saturday before on February 22. We hope all Sherburne County residents recognize the importance of this date and contemplate the many events and individuals that have contributed to the well-being of Sherburne County.
