New Business Identity Theft Protections Begin January 1, 2026
SAINT PAUL - On January 1, 2026, the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State will launch a set of protections for business owners impacted by business identity theft. Last supper - Community Table wraps up years of feeding Elk River
On its first day in June 2020, the Elk River-based nonprofit Community Table served about 250 free meals to residents at the Sherburne County Fairgrounds. The menu included a hamburger or hot dog, apple slices, a bag of chips and a cookie. Five-and-a-half years later, the organization has become a popular local institution. Changes to Elk River Yard Waste Transfer Sight
Beginning January 1, 2026, only Elk River residents will be able to use the Yard Waste Transfer Site and must apply for a card online. Residents will have to pay a $25 annual fee and register their vehicle and trailer. Commercial users will also be able to use the site for an annual fee, security deposit, and per-load fee. This year marks the 126th anniversary of the nationwide Christmas Bird Count, a survey of winter bird species conducted annually from December 14 to January 5. This citizen science project is organized by the National Audubon Society and involves tens of thousands of volunteers from Alaska to Antarctica, including a group of volunteers at your nearby refuge.
