Important update: Attorney General releases FAQ on Minnesota's price transparency (junk fee) law

On Friday the Minnesota Attorney General sent Minnesota Retailers an FAQ document regarding the state's new price transparency law, commonly known as the "junk fee" law. This law, which will take effect on January 1, 2025, aims to provide consumers with clearer pricing by ensuring that all mandatory fees are disclosed upfront in advertised prices.

The Attorney General's office mentioned to Minnesota Retailers that it plans to update the FAQ regularly as new questions are raised. We are currently working on submitting additional requests for clarification and welcome any insights or specific points you would like addressed.

If you have questions or need more information, we encourage you to reach out to Will Hagen at will@mnretail.org. Please share any specific clarifications or concerns that would help in our discussions with the Attorney General's office.

This law will impact many facets of retail operations, and we are committed to ensuring our members have the guidance they need to comply smoothly.
