Main Street Family Services adds Family Resource Center
Main Street Family Services held a grand opening for its Family Resource Center with a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny event inside and on the grounds outside the center located at 400 Jackson Street NW in Elk River.
The event attracted about 300 children and adults who were treated to breakfast and a chance to tour the facility and meet up with a few of the businesses’ many partners, including Milestones, Hope in a Hopeless World and You’re Not Alone. The Elk River Police and Fire Department was also there giving children a chance to see a fire truck and a squad car and talk with an officer and firefighters.
The Family Resource Center, which will be a community hub for families to receive concrete support, peer support, education, and a warm and welcoming space to help navigate challenges, is an addition to Main Street Family Services made possible by a $263,000 grant awarded by the Sauer Family Foundation.
Main Street Family Services was established in 2016 and serves individuals and families in and around Elk River. The focus of Main Street has been on providing services that support and guide individuals and families during challenging times More specifically, Main Street Family Services provides therapeutic services, supervised visitation and parenting and family support services.
The Family Resource Center will be a welcoming space that helps families navigate and access services within the community. It will be a host to support groups, family activities, and education with the goal of helping to nurture healthy relationships at home and in the community.
The Family Resource Center is dedicated to providing information, referrals, advocacy, and assistance to our neighbors. Its goal is to help create stability for families by creating connections of support with schools, local services, community partners, corporate and government agencies, and faith communities.
“We help our neighbors meet their basic needs and provide skills and resources to achieve self-sufficiency,” said Julie Schultz, the executive director of Main Street Family Services and the Family Resource Center since its inception. “Together, we want a stronger, healthier, and connected community where every family flourishes.”
There was a ribbon cutting on March 12 for the Family Resource Center.
