Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge announces the beginning of fall migration

Friends of Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge would like to announce the beginning of fall migration for the Sandhill Cranes. Attached you can find a news release about how to visit the thousands of cranes this fall. This unique occurrence draws many from the local area and beyond.

Please note that the cranes are having a later start this year with the warm weather and survey counts have been paused due to the government shutdown. We encourage folks to follow the Friends of Sherburne NWR Facebook page for the most recent updates.

The Friends are announcing the Sandhill Celebration 2025, a virtual fundraiser that highlights the cranes and provides a way to support refuge activities and nature education in an uncertain time. Find out more at  Give.classy.org/SandhillCelebration25

Friends of Sherburne NWR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that nurtures an appreciation for and the conservation of Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge through education, volunteerism and philanthropy.
