Job Summary
This position assists Probation Officers with compiling and entering legal history in reports. The Assistant Probation Officer will complete bail evaluations to assist the court and attorneys in making informed decisions, monitor compliance of pretrial clients on electronic monitoring and random testing, and have responsibility over specified service delivery.

All tasks will be performed in accordance with county and department policy and procedure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position.  These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.   Other duties may be required and assigned.
 
Reports and Documentation
Interview and complete pretrial bail evaluations for defendants in custody to assist the attorneys and the court in making appropriate release decisions.
Assist the adult pretrial unit PSI writers and adult supervision unit traditional and speciality caseload officers by obtaining and entering legal history for court reports.
Maintain accurate chronological recordings and offender case data in CSTS.

Case Management
Monitor compliance of pretrial clients on electronic monitoring and random testing, including testing follow up and monitoring payment compliance, file pretrial violations when necessary.

Service Delivery
Collect urine samples and/or other bodily fluid and administer preliminary breath tests to Community Corrections and Health and Human Service clients and clients from other outside referral sources.
Monitor, stock and order drug testing supplies as needed.
Complete pretrial and post sentence electronic monitoring hook-ups.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of post-secondary education in criminal justice, social work, behavioral science or a related field; OR
Two years work experience in probation, health and human services or corrections/resident care.

Work in government agency is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
